Gilded Moon Framing is "Taking Woodstock"
With the photos by the legendary sound engineer
Eddie Kramer
Music Producer – Engineer - Photographer

Eddie recorded the sound for the Woodstock concert of 1969.  While recording he took some of the most amazing photos of Jimi Hendrix.

While much has been written about Kramer's innovations in the studio, few have ever been exposed to his considerable talent for photography.  During the years 1967-1972, Kramer managed to capture well over 1,000 images documenting many of the recording sessions, live performances, and social interactions of the artists he worked with.  This staggering visual catalog of rock history has been distilled into a collection of roughly 450 images that best show what it was really like to be a part of this important time in the evolution of modern music.

"As a result of the fact that Jimi was to be the headliner and since I was working with him at the record plant, Michael Wadley who was filming Woodstock, called up the record plant and said 'well, let's get the guy who's recording Hendrix to record this thing.' And since I had a little bit of a reputation for being an engineer who liked to record live things, I got the gig."

Any producer is only as good as the music he helps create. By this standard, Eddie Kramer must be regarded as a legend. In the course of a production and engineering career that has spanned 30 years, Kramer has been behind the boards for the biggest names in music - The Rolling Stones, Traffic, Peter Frampton, Carly Simon, Joe Cocker, Johnny Winter, David Bowie, The Beatles and Bad Company, just to name a few. But he is perhaps best known for three long-term associations in which he not only helped create some of the most important music of the rock era, but also set standards for rock production that set him aside as a true innovator. His work with Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin and Kiss produced music which continues to influence rock musicians and producers today.
